Wendie Adelle Stish

Wendie A. Stish, 90, longtime resident of Nashwauk, MN died Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. She was born June 8, 1935, in Grand Rapids, MN. Wendie grew up at Swan Lake where she lived with her grandfather, John Johnson. She graduated from Nashwauk High School in 1953. At the time she was employed by Dr. Weber. Wendie went on to marry the love of her life, James Stish on May 25, 1957. They were married 51 years until James passing in 2008.
Wendie was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. She also was a very fond member of her Bone Builders group. She loved gardening, watching the birds, ricing annually with her husband, crocheting, swimming, her walks, country living, and most of all, her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. She always had cookies baked for them when they came over. Wendie had an infectious smile. Her famous motto was; “It’s fun to have fun!”
She is survived by her three children, Linda (Steve Kuyper) Muhlenburg, Zimmerman, MN, Lisa (Marc) Engel, and Greg (Nico) Stish, both of Nashwauk, MN, nine grandchildren, Lenny Mayerle, Tom Mayerle, Cody Muhlenburg, Erik Stish, Luke Engel, Josh Engel, Spencer Engel, Maya Johnson, and Matt Jeska, along with 6 great-grandchildren, Paige Mayerle, Siiri Mayerle, Lincoln Mayerle, Hadley Stish, Henry Stish, and Piper Muhlenburg.
Wendie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James R. Stish in 2008, and her son James Stish Jr.
Funeral services for Wendie will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN. The Rev. Fr. Babu Mandagiri will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm funeral Mass at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Nashwauk Cemetery, Nashwauk, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.
