Thomas Marinucci

Thomas E. (Tom) Marinucci, 72, lifelong Hibbing resident died Friday, May 17, 2019 at St. Luke’s in Duluth after a brief illness.

He was born in Hibbing to Kieno and Frances (Shuster) Marinucci on August 16, 1946. After graduating from Hibbing High School, he drove truck for Century Mercury Trucking and then worked as a custodian with the Hibbing School District for many years retiring on September 1st of last year.

Tom married Sherri (Cheryl) Malafa on June 29, 1974 in Keewatin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and they had one son, Tony. Tom was a lifelong member of the Catholic Community. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with Sherri and tinkering with classic cars at the barn. He belonged to several car clubs including the Squires Car Club, was a member of the Hibbing Rifle & Pistol Club, American Legion as well as a Mesabi Trail volunteer. Most of all, Tom enjoyed working alongside Tony and spending time with his granddaughters.

Tom is survived by his wife Cheryl, son Anthony (Julie) Marinucci, Hibbing, brother, Rodney (Linda) Marinucci, Ladysmith, WI, two granddaughters, Giatti and Sophia Marinucci and one nephew, Jeffrey Marinucci, Superior, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Tuesday in the Dougherty Funeral Home and will continue at the church Wednesday at 11:00 am. Burial will be at a later date in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
