Teresa A. Johnson

Teresa A. Johnson age 73, of Hibbing, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at her home. She was born on June 4, 1953, to Gerald and Mary (Coughlin) Foster in Duluth. Teresa attended school in Duluth before settling on the Iron Range. She attended Vo Tech in Hibbing, the first woman to earn a degree from the microelectronics program. On June 8, 1991, she was joined in marriage to Lynn Johnson. Teresa worked for 22 years as a Deli Associate at Super One. She was a proud member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Teresa volunteered at the church for social events serving refreshments and cleaning up, through the volunteer group she made many dear friends. In her younger years Teresa loved to go listening to live music and dancing with Lynn. She also greatly enjoyed listening to music from the 50’s and 60’s. Teresa liked watching movies, playing games, like Yahtzee and rummy. Camping and fishing with Lynn was a favorite pastime; she somehow always managed to out fish him (which of course drove him crazy!) She made Diamond Art, walked around town and had a soft spot for animals. Teresa was a social butterfly, she loved to talk and meet new people, she was also an excellent judge of character and was not afraid to let people know how she was feeling. Teresa had a great sense of humor, loved to make people laugh and was never short on good jokes. She is survived by her children, Joe (Nola) Mattson, Lisa (Mark) Mehle, Jennifer (Joel) Sturgis, Mary Anderson, siblings, Steve (MaryAnn) Foster, Dave (Nancy) Foster, grandchildren, Paige Mattson, Lauren Mattson, Tyler (Hannah) Carlson, Ryan Mehle, Lynneah Mattson, Logan Mattson, Alexandria Sturgis, James Sturgis, Jaston Mattson, Ethan Mattson, Tressa Erickson, Mckenzi Anderson, numerous great-grandchildren, best friends, Patty Pocrnich, Chris Eckstrom and Kathy Sandstrom. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lynn Johnson, siblings, Frank Foster, Dan Foster, Tom Foster, twin sister, Debbie Renaud and grandson, Devan Mattson. Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the beginning of the service at 11:00 am at the church. Private interment will be held at a later date at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
