Susan Kathleen Bonelli

her side on April 4, 2024, at Waterview Pines Nursing Home in Virginia, MN. She
was born in Hibbing on June 19, 1941, to Otto and Lorraine Lahti. Susan grew up
in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Hibbing and graduated Hibbing High School with
the class of 1959. She went to become a licensed practical nurse after high school
and after completing training she started her career at Hibbing General Hospital.
She married Tony Bonelli, at the Blessed Sacrament Church on August 28, 1965.
A few years later in May 1969 they started a family and Susan stayed home to be
a homemaker and not long after that in August 1970 they welcomed a second
child. In 1979, when the children were older, Susan went back into nursing at the
new Hibbing hospital, Fairview Range Medical Center and continued there until
her retirement in 2013, working as an LPN for over 40 years. She was known for
her compassion for her patients and her funny, sassy, witty, sense of humor to tell
a story with coworkers. Susan enjoyed collecting her knick knacks and was an
avid hockey fan of the UMD Bulldogs, MN Wild and especially the Hibbing
Bluejackets. She also liked going out to lunch with her girlfriends, being outside
enjoying her flowers, and going to the lake and camping to many different places.
Susan is survived by her husband Tony, of almost 59 years, her children Lisa (Don
Rich) Bonelli and Mark Bonelli and numerous nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her parents and siblings Carol Martin and Richard Lahti.
In accordance with Susan’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
