Steven G. Prebeck

Steven Grant Prebeck, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away in Tampa, Florida, on February 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. Steve touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and selflessness.

Born on March 12, 1956, in Hibbing, Minnesota to Steven and Lorraine Prebeck, Steve filled the world with his immense personality from the day he was born. He graduated from Hibbing High School in 1974, and lived, worked, and raised his family in Hibbing, a town he remained proud of his entire life. After a career of over 40 years, Steve retired from Ziegler and moved to Safety Harbor, Florida, where he remained until his passing.

Steve loved life and found joy in many hobbies. An avid weightlifter, Steve could often be found in the gym and was proud to have competed in and won bench press competitions. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and attended the Sturgis bike rally for many years. Everyone knew Steve could build or remodel anything, and he used his skills to help family, friends, and neighbors. He loved yardwork and landscaping and took meticulous care of his home. Recent years in Florida were filled with many special memories of spending time on his boat, riding bikes, exploring breweries, and being with his dogs. Throughout all his hobbies, Steve prioritized spending time with his family, friends, and helping others.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gina; sons Josh (Mollie) of Louisville, Kentucky and Zach (Kate) of Rochester, New York; granddaughter Amelia, sister Susan (Richard) of Hibbing, Minnesota, his beloved dogs, Marley and Yoda, nieces, cousins, and countless friends.

Steve’s warmth and altruistic nature will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Hibbing Elks Lodge (1926 4th Ave East, Hibbing, MN) from 1PM – 4PM. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite brewery or Harley shirt.
