Listen to Obituary

Shirlie Jean Osberg passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. The Lord called her home on June 17, 2026. Shirlie was born to Harry and Phebe (Mills) Swenson on June 23, 1932, in Remer, Minnesota, where she was raised on a farm with nine siblings. She married Alan Osberg of Brainerd, Minnesota and they were blessed to have raised five children together. She had 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren whom she adored. She loved many nieces and nephews. Her home was always full of family and friends, laughter and love. Shirlie was preceded in death by daughter Lin Cary, sons Tim Osberg and Randy Osberg and is survived by son Jeff (Betty) Osberg, daughter Kim Glenn and daughter in law Karen Osberg. She enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and crafts with her dear companion Mike. They also snowmobiled, boated, and played cards with friends. She enjoyed many years of family gatherings and time at the lake with Mike. Flowers were another of her passions. She had many beautiful flower gardens and loved to tour flower gardens. She spent many summers in the garden with her dear friend Carol. They also enjoyed shopping, eating out, jigsaw puzzles and any good trouble that came their way on their many outings. Birds and birdwatching was a hobby that she enjoyed with her friends Bonnie, Jim and Christina for many years. Her variety of flowers attracted birds of all types. Her ventures to the bog and many bird feeding stations with Christina were a great joy. Quilting was always a passion and great pleasure. She made countless quilts for family and quilted with the ladies at church. She enjoyed sewing and the creativity she put into each one. You supported, comforted and strengthened our lives. You graced us with your joy, laughter, kindness, compassion and love. You will forever be in our hearts and missed by many.
