Shirley A. Rodorigo, 89, lifelong resident of Hibbing unexpectedly died Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at her home in Hibbing. She was born May 5, 1937, to Eino and Ailie (Hiipakka) Erickson in Hibbing. Shirley graduated from Hibbing High School, class of 1955. She later completed a two-year program at the Hibbing Junior College. She went on to work with Hibbing Public Utilities in the office retiring after 47 years of employment. Also, she and her husband Baldy, were well known for delivering ice for Commercial Refrigeration for Baldy’s sons in Virginia, MN for many years. She was a former member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Shirley was very active in the Hibbing community and was involved with various organizations. She was a member of the Hibbing Bowling League, bowling on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, the Finnish American Club, the Hibbing Elks Lodge, and local groups, such as the Parkinson’s Support Group, the HPUC Retiree Breakfast Club, her birthday club, and going out to coffee with the girl’s club! They all meant the world to her. In addition, there was her Valentini family, and her bowling girl’s family. Her getting together with these groups and friends were the basis of her life. Shirley was extremely outgoing and friendly, and always on the go! A true social butterfly. She was also known as a local history buff. Her passing comes with a loss of wonderful past knowledge and memories that she so fondly shared with others. Shirley enjoyed gardening, going out to eat, and was a caretaker for many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Patricia (Steve Moeller) Sodergren, Duluth, MN, her family through marriage, sister-in-law, Betty Erickson, California, and her special nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Eino and Ailie (Hiipakka) Erickson, her husband, Baldy Rodorigo, along with her two brothers, Albert and Donald Erickson.

Funeral services for Shirley will be 12:00 pm, Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Brian Birk will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the 12:00 noon memorial service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Virginia, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
