Sam M. Bonelli, 83, was surrounded by his 3 granddaughters and Jeff and Barb at his bedside for days as he passed away from a lingering illness at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN. He was born in Chisholm, MN on February 5, 1943. Sam was raised from infancy by his beloved Italian grandparents, Anthony “Tony” and Maria Bonelli.

Sam was an Army veteran. He joined the Army at 17 years old. He served in Germany for 3 years and loved the country and his military friends. Upon returning home, Sam worked for Eveleth Taconite, retiring after 34 years of service.

He loved watching his granddaughters compete and perform at Horse Shows, and their accomplishments. He also loved watching Jeff racing at various towns throughout his career. Jeff was his favorite person to be around besides his 3 granddaughters, they “Lit up his Life”.

Sam was true to his Italian heritage, his favorite saying was; “Pasta, Pasta, and Wine!”

He is survived by his longtime companion and partner, Sharon Hart and family. Jeff and Barb Hart, children Sarah, Lisa and Jaime Hart. Vicki Hart and son, Hunter Frear, son Mike Benjamin and his child, Nick of Florida.

Per Sam’s wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service. “See you on the other Side!” Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Sam’s family would like to send a sincere thank you to Heritage Manor and Fairview Range Hospice for the excellent and passionate care Sam received during this difficult time. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
