Ruth L. Ryan

Ruth L. Ryan, 88, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.  She was born on December 3, 1929 to Richard C. and Clara (Peterson) Frisk in Hibbing.  She attended Hibbing schools, and graduated from Hibbing High School with the class of 1947.  On August 18, 1951 she married David P. Ryan at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing.  They were happily married for nearly 55 years until David’s passing in January of 2006.  Ruth was employed with US Bank in Hibbing.  She was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the church choir for over 60 years, the same bridge club for 55 years, Past Honored Queen of Jobs Daughters, and the Order of the Eastern Star.  Ruth was a well known vocalist in the area for community concerts and events, including; weddings, funerals, various plays and dinner theaters.  Ruth’s special love was spending time at the cabin on Pokegema with her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn (Ernie Braunschweig) Ryan, Milton, GA, and son David D. Ryan, Chicago, IL, her granddaughter, Dr. Melissa Ryan, special  friend, Audrey Hammar, and numerous nieces, nephews, close family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David P. Ryan in 2006, parents, Richard and Clara (Peterson) Frisk, brother, Earl Frisk, and two sisters, Margaret Nelson, and Phyllis Moffitt.

Funeral services for Ruth will be 1:00 pm, Monday, February 19, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Andrew Petter will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.  Spring interment will be held in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to; the Shriners Children’s Hospital, the Wesley United Methodist Church, or the Hibbing High School Auditorium Project.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
