Ruth Marie Enyart, age 73, of Hibbing, passed away Sunday November 10, 2024, at Essentia Health Hospital in Duluth, peacefully.
Ruth was born October 9, 1951, to Wilbert and Emma (Atkins) Erickson. She attended Nashwauk/Keewatin schools and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1971. She attended Hibbing Community College. In her younger years she was very active in 4H and won many blue ribbons especially for baking. She was a leader for the Y-teens Program at the YWCA in Hibbing for several years and supervised many activities. She worked several years as a waitress in Hibbing at various restaurants. She drove a taxicab for Hibbing Taxi Company many times through the years.
Her favorite occupation was working at the carnival. The family joked about how she ran away from home at age 21 to join the carnival, and her mother tried to get the police to go get her because she was a runaway. She worked many different jobs there, from food services to games, and then owner of Enyart/Dillon Enterprises. She traveled all over the US and Canada. Her last adventure was in Atlantic City with a permanent position on the boardwalk.
She was very kind, and compassionate. She loved to help others and often she would go without to help someone else. She had a great sense of humor and sometimes with a bit of sarcasm. Her favorite pastime was visiting port-a-potties across the country, taking naps, and having fun at the casino. She was loved by most who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She was married to Andy Karahalios for a short period of time in the 1970s, however they remained good friends to the end. She married Clarence Enyart on February 14, 2014.
She is survived by her children Charles Erickson of Duluth, Amber (Dan Grimm) Erickson of Amite LA, Julie (Josea Osborne) Erickson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Willie (Danielle) Erickson of Cutbank MT. Siblings Bob (Betty) Erickson or Enumclaw WA, Dorothy (David) Cencich, Glen Erickson, and Brenda (Steve) Belak, all of Hibbing, a sister-in-law Loretta (Dave ) Zacharis of Prior Lake, 15 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, her companion Cliff Kampsula, and her very dear friend Karen Panela.
