Rodney R. Holmi, age 82, of Palo, MN, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl, MN.
He was born on March 12, 1943, in Biwabik, MN, to Richard and Ailie (Palo) Holmi. Rodney grew up in Palo, MN, and attended their local school. He was a proud member of the Laborers Local 1097 in Virginia. Rodney was a jack of all trades and worked numerous jobs, mastering different skills and knowledge, while taking great pride in his work and community. He had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, or enjoying time outside. In quieter moments, Rodney found joy in baking and sharing what he made with others. He was a respected role model to many, known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and the steady guidance he offered to those around him.
Rodney is survived by his children, Tammy (Patrick) Marbley of Mahnomen, MN, and Teresa Lincoln of Hibbing, MN; sister, Alice Maki of Aurora, MN; grandchildren, Justin (Patty) Mineheine, Kelly Goggleye, Karlee Goggleye, Travis Goggleye, Jon (Sarah) Lincoln, Sarah (Nate) Nygard, and Jenna Lincoln; and many great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris (Broberg) Holmi; siblings, Eleanor Lahti, and Emil Lahti; niece, Cynthia Lehti; and grandchild, Amanda Lincoln.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Timbers Edge this summer. The date and time will be announced closer to the service.
Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing, MN.
