Robert K. ‘Bob’ Smith
Robert Smith, 73, of Nashwauk, MN, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis.
He was born on May 2, 1938 in Bayfield, WI and later moved to the Lawrence Lake area in the 1950’s where he met and married Pearl Tupper on December 19, 1959, at the Lawron Presbyterian Church. They have called Nashwauk their home since 1961.
Bob owned and operated several businesses in the Nashwauk area and retired as a Prudential Insurance Agent. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing his time and talent a with area youth as a coach for Pony League Football, Basketball, Legion Baseball, and Boxing. He also served several years as a Nashwauk City Council Representative and has been an active member of the Nashwauk Alliance Church since 1981.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pearl Smith; his five children, Ron (Roberta) of Pengilly, Joel of Nashwauk, Lynne (Bruce) Conway of Forest Lake, Sandy (Scott) Edman of Coon Rapids, and Scott (Tracy) of Meridian, Idaho; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; brother, Larry (Florie) of Wisconsin, sisters, Virginia Kochar of Nashwauk, Kathleen (Ernest) Burns of Nashwauk, Sue (Joe) Krznarich of Arizona, and Debra Block of Nashwauk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark Smith, Bridget Smith; and nephews Keith Smith and Timothy Smith.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 17th at the Nashwauk Alliance Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
Bob’s opinions and great sense of humor will be missed by all.
