Robert J. Martire, 70, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center-East Bank in Minneapolis, MN, surrounded by his children. He was born October 10, 1954, to Joseph and Inez (Catani) Martire in Grand Rapids, MN. Robert graduated from High School in 1974. He went to work in the mines and retired as an electrician from Keetac after 43 years of service. Robert was a former member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church where he served as an Usher, alongside his father, for many years.
Robert enjoyed watching all Minnesota sports teams including hockey and would play for several years with a local Men’s league on Sundays. He enjoyed life and always tried to find a way to make people laugh. He was also known to enjoy exercise, lifting weights, working on projects, or helping the neighbors with just about anything.
Most of all, he loved working on the property alongside his son Andrew and spending his time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his children, Ashley (Tyler) Brown, Plymouth, MN, and Andrew (Sydney French) Martire, Hibbing, MN, sister, Kathleen (Jim) Kinney, Breezy Point, MN, four grandchildren, Anthony, Aria, and Alexander Martire, and Brooks Brown, as well as two nieces, Missy Kinney, and Thea (Mitch) Feierabend, and their children, Archer, Elsa, and Ida, and former spouse Cammy (Chad) Mastakoski, of Hibbing, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Inez (Catani) Martire.
Funeral services for Robert will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Bill Skarich will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 memorial service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.
