Robert H. “Cobbs” Katalinich

Robert “Cobbs” H. Katalinich, age 96 of Pengilly, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Veterans Home in Silver Bay, MN. He was born on June 21, 1929, in Nashwauk, MN, to Marko and Slava (Pleshe) Katalinich.
Cobbs proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Elizabeth Zakrajsek on August 9, 1958, and together they raised 3 children. Cobbs earned a degree in refrigeration from Dunwoody and worked with Northwestern Bell/US West as a telephone repairman for 40 years. He was a faithful member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Nashwauk for many years and a member of the American Legion in Nashwauk for 70+ years. Cobbs could be found bartending regularly at the Nashwauk GI club, and in his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, spending many years spear fishing, hunting, gardening, piloting small planes, and being a voracious reader.
He is survived by his children, Thomas (Lisa) Katalinich of Victoria, MN, Paul Katalinich of Cloquet, MN, and Joni (Nicholas) Schuessler of Eden Prairie, MN; sister, Charlotte Duncan of Sparks, NV; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Cobbs is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elizabeth; siblings, Antonia (Nicholas) Dasovich, Mary (Alfredo) Bonaventuri, Goldie (George) Orlovich, Violet (Daniel) Dukich, and Richard (Marlene Kibbey) Katalinich, Barbara Katalinich (infant), and brother-in-law George “Bill” Duncan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Mass, and Father Babu Mandagiri will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at the Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing, MN.
