Robert "Bob" James Jones, 94, of Cherry, MN, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, at Edgewood Assisted Living in Virginia, MN. He was born at home in Kelly Lake, MN, on September 23, 1929, to James and Clare (Blais) Jones. Bob grew up in Kelly Lake and attended Hibbing High School. He went on to serve his country for five and a half years in the US Air Force during the Korean War. During his service, Bob was able to travel all over the world from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Panama and the Dominican Republic to Alaska. Bob was married to his wife, Beverly Braun (a fellow Kelly Laker), on July 19, 1952. He worked over twenty years as a radio telegrapher and dispatcher for DWP Railroad and retired at age forty-five. During that time he also owned and operated J&K TV service for many years after retiring from the railroad. Bob also enjoyed farming, operating his HAM Radio and riding his corvette, snowmobile, boat and especially his beloved Harley Davidson. He loved spending time with his siblings and wintering at the Suwannee River in Florida with Beverly. Bob always stayed busy doing something, accomplished many things and lived a long and happy life.
He is survived by his children David (Mona) Jones, Dorothy Bennett, Patrick (Gary Shepson) Jones and Bobbi (AJ Dabruzzi) Jones, sister-in-law Linda Jones, grandkids Ricky Jones, Kelly Jones, Stacy Wesley, Kristi Bennett, Tiana Rusczak, Brandi Rusczak, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings Audrey Kerr, Jeanne Enroth, Clifford Jones, son James R. Jones and son-in-law Dave Bennett.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing. Visitation will take place one hour prior to mass at 10:00 AM. Father Daniel Weiske and Father Steven Jones will concelebrate. Military honors will be accorded by the Mid Range Honor Guard outside of church following the mass.
