Robert C. Ives, 84, longtime resident of Hibbing died Monday, June 22, 2026, at home with family by his side. He was born April 24, 1942, to Russell and Marion (Equist) Ives in Laurium, MI. After high school Robert attended Michigan Tech and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He united in marriage with Patricia (Solonsky) Ives on March 21, 1966. They moved to Hibbing in 1967 and have been residents ever since. Robert was employed as a Metallurgical Engineer at Hibbing Taconite until his retirement. He was a proud NRA member, the Hibbing Elks Lodge, and Northern MN Engineers Club. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gunsmithing, cooking, and making sausage. These were some of his favorite pastimes. Most notably, he loved having happy hour in the garage at 814 ½ at 4 pm with his posse’.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Ives, Hibbing, MN, daughter, Tanya Ives, Chanhassen, MN, and his close and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Marion Ives.

Funeral services for Robert will be 11:00 am, Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Steve Tomberlin will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Friday. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
