Listen to Obituary

Richard Anderson, 83, of Hibbing, Minnesota, passed away on October 9, 2026, holding his daughters’ hands as he took his final journey from this world. A proud Navy veteran, Richard dedicated a part of his life to serving his country before retiring from United Taconite. He was a man whose life was defined not only by his service and hard work, but also by his love for his family and the memories he created with those closest to him. After 53 years of marriage, Richard has been reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Linda, who passed away 17 months before him. Though her absence left an emptiness that could never truly be filled, their love remained strong through the months they spent apart. There is comfort in knowing that they are together again, reunited in a place where there is no more pain, no more sorrow, and no more goodbyes. Their love story continues, hand in hand for eternity. Richard’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He made it a point to attend their activities, from sporting events to concerts, always showing up to support them and be part of their lives. Some of those memories were made on the coldest days at the softball fields, sitting through chilly weather just to cheer them on. Those cold days may have tested everyone’s patience, but they became treasured memories of a papa whose love showed up in the stands, no matter the temperature. His presence was a gift, and the memories of him cheering them on will live on in their hearts. Richard’s final moments were surrounded by love as he held the hands of his daughters, a beautiful testament to the bond they shared. He leaves behind his loving daughters, Rebecca Anderson (Kirby Wilcox) and Heather Pinkoski, special son-in-law Paul Pinkoski; his granddaughter, Madison Lampton, and her fiancé, Shawn Ohm; and his grandson, Samuel Pinkoski. He also leaves behind his favorite nephew, Aaron Fletcher, and his special friends, Reta and Dan Ridlon, who held a meaningful place in his life. Richard also had a special way of showing his love for his grandchildren through the little things. There was always Coke in the fridge and Oreos in the snack drawer, waiting just for them. These simple traditions were his way of making sure his grandchildren felt welcome, loved, and a little spoiled whenever they came to visit. Those familiar treats will forever bring back memories of time spent with Papa, reminding them that sometimes the sweetest expressions of love come in the simplest ways. Though Richard’s family and friends are heartbroken by his passing, they can find comfort in the memories they shared, the laughter, the family gatherings, the sporting events, the concerts, and all the little moments that made life special. His legacy lives in the family he loved, the country he served, the work he was proud of, and the countless memories that will never fade. After 17 months apart, Richard and Linda are together once more. One can only imagine the beautiful reunion as he sees his beloved wife again, the love of 53 years welcoming him home. No more lonely days, no more missing one another—just the two of them together again, as they were meant to be.
