Paul D. Barthany

Paul Douglas Barthany age 67 of Nashwauk, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, July 3, 2025. He was born August 29, 1957, in St. Paul, MN. Paul attended high school at Mounds View High, graduating with the class of 1975. 

After school, Paul worked at the Anchor Paper for 15 years. Following his time at the paper, he went on to be a mechanic. He worked on snowmobiles for both the Kawasaki and Polaris race teams. As well as snowmobiles, Paul worked the lower end on high-performance race boats for Chuck McKay. He was also a pro bass fisherman, appearing briefly on a TV show. Paul also worked at Magnum Power Sports in Nashwauk, Snow Pro Performance, Northway Sports, and he owned and operated AJ Sales in Bovey. In his retirement, Paul would help his neighbors out where he could, usually shoveling, plowing, and clearing snow. In the summer, he would cut grass for multiple people in town. He was joined in marriage to his wife Sandra on August 14th, 1991, at their home in Bovey, MN. 

Paul is survived by three sons, James Jacobs, Tom Jacobs, John Pearson, sister, Sue Wolfe, and grandchildren, Katelyn Jacobs, Kaylee Jacobs, Ariana Pearson, Alaina Pearson. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Gwendolyn Barthany, and his wife, Sandra. 

A celebration of life will be held in June of 2026
