Patrick J. Ogrinc, age 74, of Hibbing, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026, at Heritage Manor in Chisholm, MN. Born in Duluth; Pat graduated from Virginia High School in 1970.
He then attended the Duluth Institute of Technology before enlisting in the Air Force. Pat dedicated 22 years to defending his country, serving in both the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, including Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His military career took him all over the United States and abroad, including Korea, Turkey, and England, where he met and married his wife, Karen, in 1992, who was also serving in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force in 1994, Pat returned to Boise, ID, where he worked for Micron Technology for ten years. While living in Boise he developed a love of astronomy under the mountain skies. A true outdoorsman, Pat had a passion for hunting and was an active member of the Hibbing Rifle and Pistol Club and the Hibbing Trap Club. While he was generally serious and stoic, Pat also had a playful side, evident in his “Dad Jokes” and novelty items. These pranks were always accompanied by a mischievous grin.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Caroline (Skull) Ogrinc.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Flick) Ogrinc, his daughters, Patricia (Artie) Ogrinc and Sarah Ogrinc, grandchildren, Liam and Makayla, and his sister, Juliane (Ben) Casey.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Duluth. Military honors will be presented by the cemetery’s honor guard.
