Opal Watsula

Opal M. Watsula, 95, lifelong resident of Meadowlands, died Friday, February 10, 2023 at Hummingbird Assisted Living in Meadowlands.  She was born October 5, 1927 to Roland and Sarah (Yoakum) Andrews in Meadowlands.  A homemaker by trade, Opal was a member of Christian Way Fellowship.  She loved playing the piano and gave lessons for many years throughout her lifetime.

Opal is survived by her children, Cathleen (Jim) Mickelson, Monument, CO, Sharann (Steven) Wicklund, Hibbing, MN, Linda (Rick) Johnson, Duluth, MN, Opal Jean (Duane) Linder, Cleveland, OH, Steven (Lori) Watsula, Meadowlands, MN, Benjamin (Jill) Watsula, Babbitt, MN, Sam Watsula, Duluth, MN, Sue (Roy) Johnson, Floodwood, MN, and Elaine (Greg) Schminski, Floodwood, MN, daughter-in-law, Bonnie Watsula, Meadowlands, MN, 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by three children, Carl, David, and Dan Watsula, her husband, Carl, parents, Roland and Sarah, and three sisters, Edythe, Evelyn, and Violet.

There will be a celebration of Opal’s life at a later date.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
