Nora Warwas

Nora Warwas, age 91 of Nashwauk, MN, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the Hibbing Hospital. Nora was born in Bemidji, MN, on August 2, 1931 to Melvin and Olga (Moe) Erickson. She grew up there and helped her family on the farm. Nora met her future husband, Lyle Warwas and they moved to Nashwauk in 1951 and started their family. Her faith was important to her as she was a longtime member of the Nashwauk Lutheran Church. She would sew quilts and make soap for the church with some of her quilts being sent overseas. Nora did a lot of canning and gardening vegetables. Her and the family would do quite a bit of traveling cross country to different states in the camper to visit relatives. Nora enjoyed watching her favorite television shows. She was an excellent grandma and babysitter as she was always watching over everyone.

Nora is survived by her children: David Warwas, Pamela Warwas, Carol (Curtis) Foss and Arlinda (Dusty) Gayhart, siblings: Violet Ayres, Edna Sandberg and Betty Brigs, grandchildren: Daryl Warwas, Jamie (Sam) Ready, Shaun Warwas, Justine (Tyler) Cormier, Cody (Tisha) Gayhart and Jesse Gayhart, thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents and her siblings; Judy Long and Edward Erickson.

There will be a memorial service held at the Nashwauk Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11:00AM. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at 10:00AM. There will be no burial and reception will be held following the service.
