Naomi Mae Jarrett

Naomi Mae Jarrett, 96, of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl, MN. She was born in Scottsville, KY, on May 23, 1929, to Hershel and Kay (Wygal) Hinton. Not long after high school, Naomi met Reed Jarrett and fell in love. They were married on January 3, 1948, and together started their family in Attica, IN. Eventually, their family moved to Minnesota, and lived in Bigfork, Grand Rapids, Chisholm, and finally Hibbing. Naomi was the comptroller for Black's General Tire for 20 years. She was an active member of her church, Wesley United Methodist, where she belonged to the Hannah Circle women's group. Naomi also never missed a get-together for her friend's birthday club, as it was important to her for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and a member of the Mesaba Country Club for many years, as she and Reed enjoyed golfing together.

Naomi is survived by her children, Kathy Johns, Janet (Gary) Southgate, and Jeffery (Carol Shamp) Jarrett, grandchildren Kim, Jasmine, Katie, April, and Char, 15 great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, siblings Thelma and Norma, son-in-law Terry, and grandchildren David and Angela.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cornerstone staff and Fairview Hospice for their wonderful care.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Chisholm United Methodist Church. Visitation will start an hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM, and interment will take place at a later date.
