Mary Louise Muhar

Mary Louise Muhar, 97, of Keewatin, MN, passed away on March 4, 2024, at the Deer River Hospital.  She was born in Keewatin, MN, on August 15, 1926, to Dominic and Mary (Milani) Emanuel.  Mary Louise grew up in Keewatin and attended school there.  She married Nick P. Muhar at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keewatin on September 27, 1947.  Her faith was very important to her as she volunteered and served lunches at the church whenever she was able.  Mary Louise was also part of the Ladies Auxiliary, Keewatin quilting club and always helped put on the Keewatin deer hunting spaghetti feed with the American Legion.  She and Nick were longtime members of the Grand Rapids Vintage Car Club as they enjoyed the shows together.  Mary Louise loved to bake and prepare food... she was known for her great Italian cooking.Mary Louise is survived by her children Jim Muhar, Janice Muhar, Nick S. Muhar, and Nancy (Michael) Ribich, siblings Dominic Emanuel, Theresa Morris, Ellen Johnson and Thomas (Darlene) Emanuel, grandkids Jonathan, Karissa and Laura, seven great grandchildren and the rest of her extended family.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Jim Emanuel, Katherine Gustafson and Lucille Blythe.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Essentia Health Hospice for all of their excellent care.
There will be a funeral service at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.  Deacon Richard Johnston will officiate and visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00AM.  Interment will take place at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing and celebration will follow at Dougherty's.
