Mary Joan Frye

Mary Joan Frye age 81 of Hibbing passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation in Hibbing. Joan was born in Chisholm to Julius and Lucille (Rosc) Tappero on July 6, 1944. She was a life- long Hibbing resident, and most of her life was spent living in the Brooklyn neighborhood. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1962, and later that summer of she became a mother and started taking care of her family. She was a loving mother who did all she could to ensure that her family was provided for. As the years passed, her devotion to her family continued and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and embraced her role as a grandmother. She worked at many entities in Hibbing and on the Range. Later in life she worked at the Lee Center as their manager until she retired from there after 20 years. Joan and her husband Jack were proud owners of the Hibbing Bottle Shop. Joan and Jack spent many summers at their cabin on South Sturgeon and, later, on Swan Lake. She is survived by her children, Greg Furin, Hibbing, MN, Geoffrey (Carrie) Furin, Duluth, MN, Jeannie (Craig) Seppala, Centerville, MN, Geary Furin, Park City, UT, Dede (Brett) Weiner, Hibbing, MN, siblings, Carol (George) Anderson, Cloquet, MN, Jeannie Kulka, Cleveland, OH, grandchildren, Julianne (Jarrod) Peterson, Jennifer Seppala, Madison Furin, Mercedes Furin, Wesley Furin, and Clara Furin. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Frye, and her parents, Julius and Lucille. Private family services will be held at a later date.
