Marilyn Ann Aimonetti, 93, died peacefully in her sleep in her home on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Nashwauk, Minnesota. She was born in Hibbing, MN to Annabelle (Filpula) and Marvin Simonson and spent her life in Nashwauk raising a family, serving at her church St. Cecilia’s and caring for her many family members and great friends, including Jackie DeNucci and Richard Johnston and the Legueri family.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, James Aimonetti and her eldest daughter, Jayne (Aimonetti) Owens.
She is survived by her eldest son-in-law, Richard Owens (Joanne Cianni) (Coleraine, MN). Her daughters Sheri (Gary) Kalisch (Cape Coral, FL) and Nancy (Wayne) Roberts (Pengilly, MN)and son, Peter (Jean) Aimonetti (Cottage Grove, MN). Her grandchildren Tadd (Amy) Owens, Kipp (Danielle) Owens, Michael (Jody) Kalisch, Tim (Amy) Kalisch, Melissa (Jim) Kinkel, Terry Roberts, Tommy (Taylor) Roberts and Travis (Sarah Deem) Roberts. Also, ten great-grand children, and three great-great-grand children and another expected soon. Marilyn was an avid camper, snowmobiler, cross-country skier and cribbage player.
In addition to her great generosity, she was known to occasionally smoke, drink ponies, curse and lead her grandchildren on “snipe hunts”. And she leaves four generations of family members forever changed for the better by their respective relationships with her and a legacy of love and kindness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Nashwauk. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 am until the beginning of Mass. Interment will be at the Nashwauk Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Nashwauk Food Shelf.
