Marc D. Engel

Marc D. Engel, 63, resident of Nashwauk, MN died Friday, July 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Marc was born on December 6, 1962, to James and Lois (Grueling) Engel in Hibbing, MN. 

Marc was employed with Cleveland Cliffs as a Tails Truck driver. He entered the sacrament of marriage with Lisa (Stish) Engel on July 14, 1990, in Nashwauk, MN. Marc was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting mushrooms, camping with family and friends, watching MN sports, and Ice fishing with family and friends. He eventually turned a scaredy cat, his wife, into a biker girl, taking rides on the Harley, and the Side by Side, and in return, Lisa made Marc eventually enjoy watching the birds together.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Engel, Nashwauk, MN, mother, Lois Irish, Nashwauk, MN, three children, Luke Engel, Nashwauk, MN, Josh (Chenay) Engel, Duluth, MN, and Spencer (Alexia Clusiau) Engel, Duluth, MN, five siblings, Mike (Else) Engel, Boca Raton, FL, Jamie Engel, Nashwauk, MN, Kim (Dan) McLean, Grand Rapids, MN, Lisa Engel Nashwauk, MN, and Nathan Irish, also of Nashwauk, one grandchild on the way, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Engel, and grandparents, Maggie and Douglas Grueling.

Funeral services for Marc will be on Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Nashwauk. The Rev. Fr. Babu Mandigiri will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 10-12 noon, at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Nashwauk Cemetery of Nashwauk, MN. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
