Lucas W. Hoy

Lucas W. Hoy, age 17, of Cook, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 1, 2025. He was born on February 20, 2008, in Alexandria, MN, and was raised by Jeffrey Newman and Melanie Brigan.

Lucas attended Keewatin-Nashwauk Schools and had an avid passion for archery, he loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing on the lake, or tearing around on the four-wheelers. He could often be found listening to music, reading a book, or giving his uncle Donnie a hard time with his playful sense of humor. His favorite pastimes were simple yet true to who he was, which were enjoying good food and catching up on sleep. Lucas was a loving son, brother, nephew, grandson, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Lucas is survived by his parental figures, Jeffrey Newman and Melanie Brigan of Bear Lake, MN; aunt, Sheila Newman of Nashwauk, MN; uncle, Donnie (Christine) Newman of Bear Lake, MN; grandmother, Viola Newman of Bear Lake, MN; Siblings, Aubriauna, Alaina, Alexis, Cameron, Davina, and Avigail; and many other loving extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandpa, Gerald Newman; grandpa figure, Darrell “Louie” Brigan; grandmother, Sally Newman; and grandfather, Don Newman.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing, MN. A luncheon will be held after the gathering at the Cloverdale Hall in Nashwauk. Interment will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 at the Bearville Cemetery in Cook, MN.
