Louise Giansanti Perrella, an amazing 101 years on this earth, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Hibbing Hospital. She was born in Iron Mountain, MI, on August 26, 1922, to Victor and Marianna (Esposito) Giansanti. Louise graduated from high school there and not long after met her future husband, Samuel J. Perrella, in Escanaba, MI. She started out as a bank teller in Escanaba and in the early 1940's, she and Sam moved to the Iron Range where they started their family. The two of them started a cafe in Keewatin in 1953, and in October of 1954, they began Sammy's Pizza in Hibbing, MN. Her faith was strong and of utmost importance to her as she was a devout Catholic and member of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Louise was a special person teaching life lessons and leading by example. She absolutely loved to cook and bake as she fed the masses with grace and efficiency. Louise welcomed everyone with a smile on her face and her never ending positivity. She loved spending time on Swan Lake in Pengilly, MN, with loved ones. Louise adored her family. They were her life.
Louise is survived by her sons Jeff (Camille) Perrella, their children Jeff Jr, Joe and Louisa (Nick) Brooks and Greg (LaVaughn) Perrella and their children Kimberly (Nate) and Gregory (Julie), stepdaughter Marguerite Acheson, fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, one brother, stepson Sam and his spouse Jeanne Perrella Jr, step son-in-law Jim Acheson and grandson Scott Acheson.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Louise's friends and caregivers Marilyn Dimberio and Kevin Schulte, the ICU doctors, nurses, ambulance team and all other staff and the University Medical Center Mesabi in Hibbing and Rebecca and the wonderful staff at Hillcrest in Nashwauk.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing. Visitation will take place an hour and a half before mass beginning at 9:30 AM. Father Daniel Weiske will officiate services. Interment will take place at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing following mass.
