Kenneth "Ken" Alan Johnson, 69, of Hibbing, MN, passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 10, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN.
Ken was born in Seattle, WA, on September 3, 1955, to Robert and Florence (Wakefield) Johnson. His family moved to the Iron Range where Ken grew up in the Greenway area. He graduated from Greenway High School and went on to serve for a couple years in the Air Force. He came home and attended Bemidji State University where he got his teaching degree. Ken taught for a while and eventually started working with the US Post Office where he worked until his retirement. He was married in Hibbing to the love of his life, Cheryl Sparby, and they enjoyed life together for almost 40 years. He adored and cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. Ken enjoyed playing softball, bowling, hunting and fishing for many years. He loved to cook and of course eat, enjoying his famous chili and Irish stew. Ken was truly a jack of all trades as he was always up to something and working on some type of project. He will be greatly missed.
Ken his survived by his wife Cheryl, children Ken Johnson II, Krista (Jake) Johnson Zallar and Sarah Johnson, siblings Kathy (Tom) Gould, grandkids Devin, Caden, Hunter, Brenna, Aliah, Nevaeh, Maxwell and Gabriella along with his cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.
