Kenneth Leroy Erickson

Kenneth Leroy Erickson, 81, of Keewatin, MN, and formerly Calumet, MN, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 15, 2024.  He was born in Little Fork, MN, to Marvin and Etta Mae (Towle) Erickson on December 11, 1942.  Ken grew up in International Falls, MN, and graduated from high school there in 1961.  He went on to serve his country for two years in the United States Army.  After serving, Ken relocated to Davenport, IA, where he worked as a machinist for Alcoa Aluminum for thirty years before retirement.  He loved to hunt, fish, attend the races and even raced a bit himself early on.  Ken also enjoyed canning jellies, pickles and venison.  He was a big sports fan and especially of the Iowa Hawkeyes.  Ken loved his cats, Flowers and Frosty.  Above all, Ken had a heart of gold and was a great brother and uncle as he considered his nieces and nephews as his own kids.  Ken is survived by his siblings Vern (Joan) Erickson and Jean (Bernie) Lessard, sister-in-law Sue Erickson, nieces and nephews Mike and Marvin Grevich, Allan Erickson, Sara Galvin, Rico Welsch, Elizabeth and Nicholas Erickson, Michelle Ballan and Ben Lessard and many dear cousins, great nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Beverly Grevich and Allan Erickson.  A memorial and celebration of life will be held at the Moose Club in Grand Rapids, MN, from 11:00AM to 2:00PM on Friday, April 12, 2024. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
