Karmella “Melly” Rose McCollor age 13 of Hibbing passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her home unexpectedly. She was born in Hibbing on September 8, 2012. Karmella came to Sean and Penny McCollor in January of 2016 and immediately became part of the family and a daddy’s girl. She was officially adopted in 2019. She formerly attended Victory Christian Academy and recently transferred to Cherry High School, where she joined Cherry basketball team, one of her favorite pastimes. Melly also played summer recreation league soccer at Vic Power Park. Karmella’s faith was very important to her, she enjoyed attending the youth group at Abundant Life Church in Hibbing. She was a talented artist and liked to draw, read, and was well known for singing, “she would sing like no one was watching.” Her schooling was also important to her, and she was so proud when she made the B honor roll. Karmella had a strong moral compass and would stick up for people, especially her siblings, if she felt something was not right. She will be truly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her parents, Sean and Penny (Register) McCollor, siblings, Nicolle Fawcett, Cassie (Will) Gosser, Crystal (Justin Scofield) McCollor, Ashley McCollor, Matthew McCollor, Broden Fawcett (Teryn Swan), Trevor McCollor, Victoria McCollor, Brycen Fawcett, Jeremiah, Nadeah, Lucas, Allison, Kara, Charlotte and Chloe, paternal grandma, Kristin McCollor, paternal biological grandparents, Kathy Brown, Jon Dropp, and Reg Brown, paternal biological great-grandparents, Mary Ellen Boone, James and Marlene Dropp, also survived by Cassidy Sanborn and Jez Dropp, numerous aunts, uncles, extended relatives and friends. And a very close family friend Sonja Umbleby. Karmella was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert Register and Ida Schwender, and paternal grandpa, Michael “Mickey” McCollor. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 12 noon at Abundant Life Church in Hibbing with a visitation starting at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing immediately following the service.
