John E. "Yonko" Sporer

John E. “Yonko” Sporer, 87, Hibbing, MN, died Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. He was born June 15, 1937, in Leetonia Location to Steve and Mary (Susich) Sporer. He had 4 siblings. He entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Gloria (Gargano) Sporer on September 3, 1960, in Hibbing at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. 

 He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria Sporer, Hibbing, children, Shelly (Jim) Siewert, Stillwater, MN, John G. (Susie Novak) Sporer, and Gary (Jean) Sporer, both of Hibbing, sister, Kathy (Greg) Peterson, Minneapolis, MN, four grandchildren, Nicole Sporer, Josh Lundahl, Kaitlin Horton and Alyssa Horton, along with many nieces and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph Sporer, two sisters, Frances Konstad and Maxine Carpenter, and his daughter-in-law, Debra Sporer.

 Per John’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. We invite you to celebrate Yonko’s memory in your own way. Thank you for your understanding.

 Yonko’s family would like to express a sincere thank you to the nurses, aides, laundry, and kitchen workers in the Bennett Park wing of Guardian Angels, for the tender and loving care that John received while he stayed there. They also wish to thank Therapy for helping him and to Fairview Range Hospice for their visits and care at his time of need. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
