John Konesky
John Konesky, 96, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  He was born on June 1, 1915 to Peter and Mary (Savanich) Konesky in Chisholm, MN. John was employed by US Steel for over four decades and was a welder boss at Minntac prior to his retirement 34 years ago.  He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  John enjoyed traveling, maintaining his cars, gardening, working in his yard and taking long walks.  He would walk for miles at a time, stopping to visit with friends along the way. John was known to be a kind and gentle man, always with a smile, a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia Konesky, Hibbing, daughter, Constance (Bey) Rutter, and Mary (Greg) Wahl, granddaughter, Ashley Wahl, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
A graveside service for John will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.    Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing, www.doughertyofhibbing.com
