John J. Chadwick
John J. Chadwick, 82, lifelong resident of Kelly Lake died Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids, MN. He was born on May 5, 1929 to Merle and Myrtle (Cook) Chadwick in Hibbing. John was employed as a mechanic with US Steel. He was a member of the Kelly Lake United Methodist Church in Kelly Lake. and also a member of the local 2660 US Steel Workers Union. John’s pastimes included taking care of things around the house, woodworking, putzing on machinery, and especially spending time with his granddaughter Sadie.
He is survived by his daughter Lynn (Brett) Case, Bemidji, MN., his granddaughter, Sadie Case, Bemidji, MN., brother, Arthur (Pat) Chadwick, California, sister, Maxine Schnortz, Forbes, MN., and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Myrtle (Cook) Chadwick, his 1st wife, Lois, followed by his 2nd wife, Delores, sister, Wilma Sandberg, two infant children, Linda and Timothy, and his brother-in-law, Neil Schnortz.
Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00am, Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. Alex Ramos will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, December 8, 2011 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The visitation will continue one hour prior to funeral service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
