Jenna Kay Marie Schweiss

Jenna Kay Marie Schweiss age 30 of Hibbing died Thursday, May 2, 2024. She was born in Hibbing to John and Kim (Brim) Massingill on July 6, 1993. Jenna attended Nashwauk-Keewatin High School graduating in 2011. Following high school Jenna attended Hibbing Community College and later went to Bemidji State University where she played softball throughout high school and college. Jenna later played semi-pro softball in Sweden, while she was there, she coached and would eventually return to Hibbing to coach for the Hibbing Community College softball team. Jenna was currently working on her Master’s Degree in Social Work and Human Services at UMD. She was employed as an Indian child welfare guardian ad Litem at the State of Minnesota, she had a true passion for the work she did. On May 18th, 2019, she was joined in marriage to Leo Schweiss at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chisholm. Jenna loved playing softball, dirt track racing, fishing, and doing puzzles, a love she developed from her grandma Karen. Jenna had a great love for her dogs, Kota & Winston and Diesel her cat. First and foremost, above all else she always wanted to be a mom and was so excited to raise her daughters, Payson and Amelia. Jenna is survived by her husband Leo Schweiss, daughters, Payson Kay Schweiss. Amelia James Schweiss, parents, John and Kim Massingill, brothers, Jeffrey (Adri) Massingill, Brett Massingill, nephew, Kane Massingill, many friends, cousins, and extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dan and Karen Brim and paternal grandparents, Charlie and Darlene Massingill, and her aunt Charlene Fleming. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 10, 2024, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the beginning of the service at 11:00 am.
