Jean Marie Walters, 91, of Hibbing, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 17, 2025. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Jean will be remembered for her deep faith, unwavering strength, and lifelong passion for music.
Born on September 2, 1934, in Virginia, Minnesota, Jean was the beloved daughter of Russell and Mary (Burnett) Guild. Jean married the love of her life, Ronald Walters, and together they raised nine children—Steven, Michael, Mark (Sandra), Christopher, David, Ann, Carolyn (Jason), Anthony, and Mary Beth. Jean worked at Butler Mine-Keewatin and earned her LPN certificate. She served as an organist for many local churches and choirs. She also enjoyed teaching music. Jean was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish; she enjoyed being a member of the widows’ group and many Bible studies throughout the years.
Jean is survived by her children, her sister Loretta McCune, many nieces and nephews, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents; son, Christopher; daughters-in-law, Brenda Sue and Charlotte Pat; brothers-in-law, Dan McCune and Dave Brown; and sister-in-law, Laura Brown.
Jean always had so much love and music to share.
Funeral services for Jean will be, 11:30 am Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Fr. Peter Akudugu will celebrate the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:30 am Mass at the Church on Saturday. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.
