James Micheletti

James “Jim” Micheletti 

James Micheletti age 75 of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on May 6, after battling cancer. He was born January 4, 1948 to Americo and Mary (Barle) Micheletti in International Falls, MN, and was the second oldest of nine children with six brothers and two sisters. Although he grew up in the cold, he was the only one of the brothers to not play hockey. Instead, football and basketball were his chosen sports. Jim was a 1966 graduate of Hibbing High School and later enrolled at the University of North Dakota where he was a walk on for the football team. In summers he worked on the Iron Range mines and ran up and down the stock piles to train for the fall football season. Following graduation Jim taught and coached at Grand Rapids high school, before moving to Minneapolis. Jim found his way back to education by receiving his Masters of Education. James had a passion for literature and bounced between novels and memoirs of historical figures. He stayed sharp and witty by reading the daily newspaper and completing the crossword puzzle in pen! He loved to cook and had a knack for picking a good bottle of wine. Jim loved his family fiercely and loved to tell others about their accomplishments. Jim is survived by his children, Jessica (Liani Moore) Micheletti, Sacramento, CA, Samuel Micheletti, Onamia, MN, Lucas (Melissa) Micheletti, Jupiter, FL, Gabriel Micheletti, Karlsruhe, Germany, 7 siblings and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Americo and Mary, and sister, Jean. A memorial service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the beginning of the service at 10:30. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to your local food shelf.
