James Chellico

James E. “Hooner” Chellico

James E. “Hooner” Chellico, 84, Las Vegas, NV, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018 in the Grand Itasca Medical Center, Grand Rapids, MN.  He was born July 21, 1934 in Nashwauk to James and Josephine Chellico.  He was an Army veteran during the Korean War and had lived in Las Vegas, NV for the past 30 years working as a salesman.  He was a member of the Retired Men’s Club for many years and enjoyed bingo, dancing, traveling and gambling.  He also loved the company of his dog Daisy.

He is survived by his sisters: Minnie Fragnito and Angeline Tripp, both of Missoula, MT, his sister-in-law Bernice Chellico of Nashwauk, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters: Daisy Simone, Annie Brewer, Eva Chellico, his brother Louis and his infant brothers Nathaniel and Joe.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Nashwauk.  Fr. Joseph Sobolik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be in the church from 10 a.m. until service time.  Burial will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery.
