Helen Jurkovich, age 92, of Chisholm, Minnesota, formerly of Buhl and Hibbing, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at Serving Hart.
She was born on August 17, 1932, in Buhl, Minnesota, the only daughter of Toivo and Millie Kangas. After graduation from Martin Hughes High School in Buhl in 1950, Helen married the love of her life, Jim Jurkovich. They had 3 children and were married for almost 72 years. Helen lived a long and full life marked by the usual highs and lows of life, dedication to faith, music, family, and community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 72 years, Jim Jurkovich, her brother Robert, son Rick, and many, many close friends. She is survived by her brother Roger (Carolyn) Kangas, daughter Constance Jurkovich, son Dan (Gayle) Jurkovich, two grandsons, Gary (Dawn) Jurkovich of Fountain Hills, AZ, Jay (Erin) Jurkovich of Hugo, MN, and four great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, Mason and Cleo. Helen will also be missed by her many extended family members, neighbors and friends, and her loving "family" at Serving Hart.
Helen loved gardening, volunteering at the Blood Bank, helping at the Blessed Sacrament Church in any way that she could, playing the piano, reading, bird watching, home decorating, and cooking. Her flair for entertaining and sense of humor touched the lives of many.
A funeral will be held on June 9, 2025, at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Hibbing, with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in the family plot. Visitation begins at 12 noon with service at 1 pm. Donations may be made to Hibbing Fairview Range Hospice.
The family would like to thank Roger and Carolyn Kangas, Shannon and Tony Zubich, Bonnie Bussey, Sean Bussey, Tom Vucetich, the residents and staff at Serving Hart and Fairview Range Hospice for their compassionate care over these last 2 years. .
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
