Gordon L. “Gordy” Maki, 72, longtime resident of Keewatin, MN died Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home in Keewatin. He was born on April 25, 1953, to Elmer and Helmi (Laine) Maki in Toivola, MN. After high school, Gordy completed two years of trade school. Throughout his career as a mechanic, he worked for various places. Most recently was Mac’s Transport. He loved anything that had a machine attached to it and attending auctions. Gordy was a social butterfly and had a unique sense of humor.
He is survived by his children, Diane Mitchell, Hibbing, Lynn (Brian Jones) Maki, Keewatin, MN, T.J. (Amanda) Dusterhoff, Chisholm, MN, and Susan (Justin Rodman) Maki, Pillager, MN, siblings, Dennis (Vergi) Maki, New Mexico, Marvin (Mary) Maki, Soudan, MN, Sharon Pogue, Chisholm, MN, and Warren Maki of Texas, seven grandchildren, Amoryllis (Amy) Forsberg, Taylor (Nick) Cyr, Samantha (Chayse) Schmidt, Samantha Mitchell, Audrianna (Rico Axelson) Trunnel, Joseph (Danae) Preston, and Ally Maki, 12 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Jennifer Maki, wives, Nancy, Marla Rowe, Doris Maki, dear friend, Carol Allen, sister, Carol Larson, and his brother, Lester Maki.
A celebration of Gordy’s Life will be at the Trailside Lounge & Grill, Meadowlands, MN at a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
