Gloria Jean Kotyk

Gloria Jean Kotyk, 84, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Gloria was born on December 26, 1939, to Arthur and Pauline (Bellecourt) Story in White Earth Township, MN of the Mississippi Band tribe. She moved to northern Minnesota in 1952. She later met the love of her life, John Kotyk, and got married in December of 1975. Gloria and John loved to go on camping trips and travel around visiting different casinos. When away, they always enjoyed renting a car and touring around the area they were visiting. Gloria worked at many different places in town but for the longest time worked in the bakery at Spies Grocery Store. She loved the simple things in life and enjoyed cutting grass on her tractor and tending to her flowers and yard.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Kotyk; her children, Gina (Bill) Engelsted, Kris (Linda) Kotyk, and Dr. Jillian (John) Hallstrom; her siblings, Elizabeth Templin, Mildred Emerson, Leroy (Wanda) Story, and Cletus (Sue) Story; sister-in-law, Judy Mickaelson; special cousin, Eileen Anderson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pauline; her siblings, Marce and Aggnes; and her son, George Frand.
