Geraldine Yvonne Hansen

July 27, 1929 — June 8, 2024

Hibbing, MN

Geraldine “Gerry” Hansen, formerly of Hibbing, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at
age 94, at Cornerstone Villa in Buhl. Gerry was born on July 27, 1929 in Little Falls, Minnesota. She
graduated from Fremont High School in Oakland, California. She moved back to the Little Falls area and
married Clemont Nelson. After marrying Clem, they moved to Hibbing and they had 3 children, Debra,
Robin, and Michael.
After Clem died unexpectedly, Gerry met Richard (Dick) Hansen and the two got married. Gerry and
Dick did everything together and were rarely separated. Gerry had many jobs that she enjoyed
including being an aid at the Greenhaven school, in the library at the High School, Winslow’s Hallmark
store, and the Sunrise Bakery. She enjoyed playing Bridge, riding bike, hiking or walking trails (with the
dogs), and ironing clothes while watching Johny Carson. Gerry had a deep commitment to family,
especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three children: Debra (David) Nelson-Embree of Randolph, NJ, Robin (Vance) Tesch of
Virginia, and Michael (Julie) Nelson of Lake Elmo; three grandchildren: Jen (Nick) Toewe, Cohasset,
Rachel (Chris) Kuenzli, New Brighton, and Evan Embree, Fort Collins, CO. She has four great
grandchildren: Lucas and Maya Kuenzli, and Rory and Cole Toewe.
She is preceded in death by two husbands, Clemont (Clem) Nelson and Richard (Dick) Hansen.
The family will celebrate Gerry’s life at a future date.
The family would like to thank Fairview Hospice and more importantly the staff (and dogs) at
Cornerstone Villa in Buhl. We would especially like to thank Lavonne, Sarah, Jenna, Felisha, and Matt.
Their care, patience, and understanding helped Gerry feel safe and even more loved her last few years.
They were very important to her.
