Gavin Lee Russo

February 24, 2004     February 13, 2024

Gavin L. Russo, 19, lifelong resident of Hibbing died Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at his home in Hibbing just 11 days prior to his 20th birthday.  He was born February 24, 2004 to Eric and Kristina (Jurek) Russo in Hibbing.  Gavin was employed at Subway in Hibbing.  He loved music and playing basketball as his favorite pastimes.  Gavin had a light about him that shined every time he smiled. He was a dreamer and believed in the possibilities of achieving happiness if you worked hard enough for it. He was an adventurer, curious, inquisitive, and a free spirit. Gavin was strong-willed and minded and stood up for what he

believed in. Despite his medical condition, Gavin aspired to be just an ‘ordinary’ kid and wanted to be like other ‘ordinary’ kids, so he didn’t let his condition interfere. He was kindhearted and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his friends and the people he loved. He was truly loved by his family

and many others that knew him.

Gavin was a gentle soul who wanted to believe in the good of all people. He, like all of us, just wanted to be loved and surrounded by good friends, and people who cared about him. He cared deeply for his friends and his girlfriend Kylie. Gavin attended Northern Lights Community School prior to working at Ameripride, HibTac, and Sunrise Bakery. His last job was at Subway in Hibbing which he loved.

Gavin enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family, just watching movies, and ordering take-out. Gavin was an avid wrestler in grade school as well as enjoying playing guitar and performing tricks with his scooter. He loved playing basketball and boxing as he became older. He enjoyed eating at various restaurants and one of his favorite places to eat was ‘Five Guys’ in Duluth, which became a staple after appointments at the clinic. Gavin loved listening to music and was very talented in expressing himself

through music where he produced and performed his own song that he put on soundcloud.com called “Left Me in Position”. Our dearest Gavin, know that not a single day will go by when we will not miss your handsome smile and wish that you were still here. Until we meet again Gavin, rest in peace our sweet angel, we all love you.
