Eleanor A. Kennedy

Eleanor A. Kennedy, 91, longtime resident of Hibbing died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing.  She was born November 5, 1927 to Edward and Amelia (Johnson) Hendrickson in Unity, WI.  After attending school, Eleanor worked for Globe Union, inspecting radio equipment for the U.S. Navy during WWII.  She entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Michael Kennedy Sr., on November 30, 1946 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  She was employed with JC. Penney from 1965-1979 as a retail clerk.  Eleanor was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary both of Hibbing.  She loved gardening, flowers, watching birds, feeding the squirrels, camping, and traveling East to West in the U.S. and Canada.

She is survived by her five children, Sharon I. Lucas, Buck Lake, MN, Michael (Sandra) Kennedy Jr., Pengilly, MN, Gayle (Bob Sr.) Pahule, Hibbing, Joseph (Karen) Kennedy, Lewistown, MT, and Colleen (David Toivola) Werman, Hibbing, siblings, Agnes Strigel, Marshfield, WI, Donald Hendrickson, Hayden, ID, half-sister, Myrthal (Bill) Brown, Hayden, ID, brother-in-law, Duane Gleason, Hayden, ID, sister-in-law, Helga Hendrickson, Washington State, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Sr., in 2011, parents, 7 brothers and sisters, Melvin, Arne, Maynard, Dora, Alvera, Viola, and Irene, her son-in-law, Dewey Lucas, and infant grandson, Shaun Kennedy.

Funeral services for Eleanor will be 11:00 am, Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Hibbing.  The Rev. Fr. Gabriel Waweru will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing with wake prayers at 6:30 pm.  Visitation will then continue from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral Mass at the church on Thursday.

Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
