Doris Irene nee Buchwitz Maki
Doris I. Maki, 66, Hibbing, passed away on Wednesday November 2, 2011, at Guardian Angels Health Care Center due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease.   She was born on August 3, 1945, to Albert F. and Helen L. (Maxie) Buchwitz in Silver Creek, MS.  She was a 1963 graduate of Hibbing High School and a longtime resident of Hibbing.  Doris was employed as a bookkeeper for K-Mart in Hibbing for many years.  Doris’ pastimes include snowmobiling, riding on the Gator, traveling, and sitting by a bonfire.
She is survived by her husband and loving care provider, Gordon Maki, of Hibbing;  parents, Helen and Harold Salminen, Hibbing; daughters Lynette (Reischel) Podritz, Blaine, MN., and Shelly(Frank) (Reischel) Martinez, Lino Lakes, MN; a brother, Robert (Debra) Buchwitz, Toivola, MN.,  two nephews: Joseph (Karyn) Buchwitz, Detroit, MI, James (Stephanie) Buchwitz, Roseau, MN,  a niece, Diana Miller, Pueblo, CO; five grandchildren, Joshua Reischel, Lino Lakes, MN., Brandon Podritz, Milwaukee, WI., Chelsea Podritz, Blaine, MN, Collin Podritz, Blaine, MN, and Mariana Martinez, Lino Lakes, MN, 3 step-daughters:  Diane Mitchell of Virginia, MN, Lynn (Nate Pelkey) Maki of Hibbing, and Susan Maki of Virginia, MN;7 step-grandchildren: Amy Kate Hintz, Taylor Mitchell, Samantha Preston, Samantha Mitchell, Audrey Trunnell, Joseph Preston, and Ally Maki and Doris’ constant companion, “Baby” the dog.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Buchwitz, a sister, Barbara Salminen Miller, a granddaughter, Jennifer Trunnell, and a nephew, John Miller.
Funeral services for Doris will be held at 2 PM Monday Nov. 7, 2011, in Dougherty Funeral Home, Hibbing. The Rev. Mike Anderson will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.  Private interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing at a later date.  Doris’ family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Guardian Angels.
