Donald Allen Wollin

Donald “Don” Allen Wollin age 84 of Buhl passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, Minnesota.  He was born January 14, 1939 to William and Irma (Hoskins) Wollin in Little Falls, MN. Shortly after he was born the family moved to Hibbing where he attended Hibbing area schools.  He started working at the young age of 14 delivering telegrams for Western Union while also working numerous construction jobs with his dad.  On October 24, 1959 Don was joined in marriage to Bernice Evensen at First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing.  At which time he was working for EJ Longyear doing Diamond Core Drilling.  Don and his family relocated to California where he was in charge of running a gas station.  The family returned to Minnesota and he began working for Northland Concrete for 30 plus years and then moved on to Vic’s Crane Service when he decided to retire.  Don soon determined he could not stay retired and started driving bus for Ryder Bus company in Burnsville, MN.  Don and Bernice finally settled on retirement in Grand Rapids, MN where he also drove bus for First Student.  Don loved to be outside and on the move.  He enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, and camping. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and loved feeding the deer and the birds. Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bernice Wollin of Buhl, MN, daughter Pam (Pat) McCann, Prior Lake, MN. Sisters Judy (Ken) Hocking, Hibbing, MN Lois (Norm) Rice of Shakopee, MN, Son-in-law Herb Schulz Lonsdale, MN and grandchildren, Dustin, Ryan, Amy, Sean, Thorin, Corey, Ashley, and Kitiara and 12 great-grandchildren.  He is proceeded in death by his parents William and Irma, daughters Wendy Wollin, Karen Schulz, siblings, Hilton, Billy, and Joanne.  Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday June 3, 2023 at Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.  Visitation will be held from 11am until the beginning of the service at noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Mid-Range Honor Guards will accord military honors.

A family and friends gathering will be held at the Maple Hill Community Center in Hibbing immediately following.
