Dolores "Dolly" J. Johnson

Dolores “Dolly” Jean Johnson, age 97, of Hibbing, MN, peacefully passed away in her sleep on December 15, 2025, at Guardian Angels and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing, MN.

Dolly was born in St. Paul, MN, and moved to Hibbing at an early age. Her last 51 years of life were spent at Big Sturgeon Lake, her “happy place”. She was so grateful and thankful for her lake home and what it offered her. She was very involved with the Hibbing Mrs. Jaycees and took on the role of Scout leader while her girls were active members.

A member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing and Side Lake Community Church, she was actively involved with their community endeavors. Dolly was an avid sports fan and loved her Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and looked forward to watching the Kentucky Derby. She also worked for many years as a receptionist at local dental offices.

Dolly was the center of her family, always available for babysitting, baking for the grandchildren, and sharing her love with all. She was the matriarch for birthdays, weddings, and family get-togethers. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Paul) Holland of Cohasset, MN, Sharon (Mark) Holm of Barnes, WI, Sherry (Guy) Olson of Rochester, MN, and Debbie Johnson and cat Fischer of Side Lake, MN; grandchildren, Paul Holland of Grand Rapids, MN, Jennifer (Erik) Nelson of Cohasset, MN, Lindsey Holm of Bethesda, Maryland, Tyler (Brianne) Holm of Omaha, NE, Stephanie (Gary Jorgenson) Olson of Maple Grove, MN Corey (Ashley) Olson of Madison, WI; great-grandchildren Summer June Nelson, Reese Harper, Vivienne Harper, Evelynn Holm, Mathiesen Holm, Emerson Olson, Max Olson, and Mateya Olson.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her brother Greg, and her parents Ed and Martha Galvin.

Per Dolly’s request, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Chapel of the Pines in Side Lake, MN. The family will place a notification when a date and time have been determined.
