Dennis “DJ” Jack Gilbertson

Dennis J. Gilbertson, 79, longtime resident of Hibbing died Monday, March 30, 2026, at his home in Hibbing, MN. He was born June 15, 1946, in Chisholm, MN. Dennis graduated from High School and then completed a welding program at Hibbing Technical College. He was employed with Hibbing Taconite as a Welder retiring after 30 plus years of service. He entered the Sacrament of Marriage with Anna O’Connell on June 14, 1986. Dennis was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He made a great impact on the Boy Scout Community throughout his time with them donating many hours. He became a Boy Scout Master in the city of Chisholm. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dennis was a jack of all trades. He loved making things and never said no to anyone needing something worked on. He enjoyed dancing with Anna in his younger years, boating, fishing, was an avid downhill skier, loved sweets, reading, playing on his I-Pad, hanging with his grandkids, anything Star Trek, and spending time at the hunting shack. He also enjoyed spending time on Namakan Lake riding in his boat “Seafood”.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Gilbertson, Hibbing, children, Susan (Matthew Gross) Gilbertson, Hibbing, Richard (April) Weberg, Kelly Lake, MN, and Derreck (Kim) Corradi, Hibbing, MN, sisters, Carol (Ray) Bernardy, St. Cloud, MN, and Tina Nordlund, Chisholm, MN, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Sylvia and Ray

Funeral services for Dennis Gilbertson will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. The Rev. John Dietz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday. A private interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
