Delores Lorraine Sikich
Delores L. Sikich, 93, lifelong resident of Hibbing, passed away peacefully
surrounded by family on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Emerald Crest in
Burnsville, MN. She was born at home on April 26, 1932, to Oscar and
Mae (Gustafson) Johnson in Kerr Location, near Hibbing. She attended
and graduated from Hibbing schools and completed a secretarial program
at Duluth Business University after high school. A homemaker by trade,
Delores married Michael J. Sikich on September 10, 1955, at the First
Lutheran Church in Hibbing. They were together until his passing in 1999.
Delores held a few jobs throughout her lifetime. Before starting a family,
she worked as a secretary for Oliver Mining Co., and later was employed
with Manney’s Shopper for many years. She was very active in her church.
Delores was a part of various church guilds at the First Lutheran Church in
Hibbing, always willing to volunteer her time as needed. She took great
pride in preparing family meals, and her baked goods (especially apple
strudel, apple squares, and potica) were out of this world! She loved
gardening, walking with friends, knitting, and crocheting, as some of her
favorite pastimes. Delores also loved to bowl and, over the years, has
belonged to various women’s bowling leagues. But above all else, Delores
enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren. Family was the center of her life and heart.
She is survived by two children, Michelle (Robert) Haugan, Eagan, MN,
and Jeffrey (Lisa) Sikich, White Bear Lake, MN, six grandchildren, Grace
(Paul) Zens, Moorhead, MN, Michael (Kelsey) Haugan, St. Louis Park, MN,
Jillian (John) Fitzgerald, Richfield, MN, Brooke Sikich, Carmen Sikich, and
Nicholas Sikich, all of White Bear Lake, MN, three great-grandchildren, Ivy
Haugan, Blakely Haugan, and Jack Fitzgerald, along with special sister-in-
laws Donna Johnson, Ann Basarich, brother-in-law Louie Sikich and many
nieces and nephews.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Sikich, in 1999,
her parents, Oscar and Mae, along with four brothers, Alvin, Gordon,
Kenneth, and Karl Johnson.
Funeral services for Delores will be at noon, Monday, May 12, 2025, at the
First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Rev. John Dietz will officiate.
Visitation will start at 11:00, one hour before the noon service. Interment
will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that you donate to your chosen charity. Arrangements are
