            Darwin C. Olsen Sr., 80, lifelong resident of Nashwauk, MN died Sunday, May 12, 2024 at the Waterview Woods in Eveleth, MN.  He was born July 5, 1943 to Bertel and Marguerite (Robbins) Olsen in Keewatin, MN.   After school Darwin proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  After his time in the military, Darwin worked for a local sawmill, and was involved with logging in the area.  He was a member of American Legion Post 0307 in Nashwauk for many years.   He loved tinkering, fishing, hunting deer, and had a great work ethic.  

            Darwin is survived by his children, Darwin Olsen II, of Nashwauk, MN, Kimberly Olsen, Hibbing, Jim O’Brien of Missouri, Janet Bluntach, Balsam, MN, and Robert Elj of Swatara, MN, his former wife, Vickie Woody, Nashwauk, MN, 7 siblings, Carol Humphery, Waunkee, WI, Diann Helt, Kennan, WI, George Marovich, Hibbing, MN, Thomas Marovich, West Fork, AR, Joan Wirtz, Mt. Iron, MN, Joyce Gould, Hibbing, and Kevin Mogenson, Golden Valley, AZ, numerous, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Melvin, Bernice, Ernest, Ruth Ann, Warren, Ronald, and William.

            Graveside services for Darwin will be 9:00 am, Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Nashwauk Cemetery in Nashwauk, MN.  Military Honors will be accorded by the Mid-Range Honor Guard.  Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
